Tools For Peopling Collection: A Reflection of the Times

Tools For Peopling Collection: A Reflection of the Times

In today's world, we need new tools and functional accessories that help us navigate our daily lives, in various dimensions.

“You can’t change the way people think, all you can do is give them a tool, the use of which will change their thinking.”
— R. Buckminster Fuller

We created Tools For Peopling Collection in response to what we see happening on a large scale, as individuals: our loneliness epidemic and mental health crisis. A new way of shaping our identity has occured with a disconnect in our well-being. There is only so much we have control of, so here is one new way we can create authentic, in person, connections.

All of our Balance Bags in the Tools for Peopling Collection have a programmable NFC (Near Field Communication device) for the wearer to be able to share their creative passions (URL), or contact information with others that they vibe with. The virtue signaling that the Balance Bags give off, act as a conversation starter, when asked "what are those, you're wearing?"

The second NFC has helps answer the question about "what are you wearing?" into "there is one where I can share my website, too!" linking you to COVALENCE.

I think of us all as unstable electrons, seeking stable connections to create something greater than we could on our own—this is the essence of COVALENCE.

To breathe life back into COVALENCE Tools For Peopling Collection to life, we have partnered with talented leather artists at our new headquarters in The Brewery Artist Lofts.

Title: PEOPLING FACED

Artists: Meaghan Janiak and Patrick Janiak (COVALENCE)

Medium: Painted canvas, and leather Balance Bags

Description:

“Peopling FACED” represents the new “Tools for Peopling Collection.” The piece features a pair of balance bags adorned with a series of interconnected faces, each sharing noses, chins, and eyes in an asymmetrical tessellation. This pattern creates a visual dialogue about connection, unity, and the shared human experience.

The artwork was born when Meaghan assisted her sibling in moving into a new home. Amidst the transition, they explored Meaghan’s sketchbook filled with these unique facial designs. Although Meaghan doesn’t practice art professionally, her creative spirit shines through these compelling illustrations. This collaboration not only celebrates her innate artistic talent but also serves as a catalyst for future creative partnerships.

By bringing these shared faces to life on canvas, the artists invite viewers to contemplate the ways in which our lives and identities overlap. The balance bags symbolize stability and support, echoing the foundational role that relationships play in our personal journeys.
